Our shortlisted Funding In-communities projects are now ready for you to have your say!

Projects have been chosen from applications across the Bradford South and Bradford West. Each community group aims to make a real difference for Incommunities customers and our wider communities.

Winning groups will be awarded one of the following amounts: £2,000, £5,000, or £7,500. There will be one winner for each amount on the night.

Read through each project and vote for one project per funding award. Please don’t vote for your own project - we want this to be fair for everyone.

Voting closes at 5pm on Friday 2nd October 2026.

There will be a final chance to vote on the night of the awards evening, 14th October 2026 at Odsal Stadium, where all votes will be counted and the winners for each funding category will be announced.

£7500 Category -

Thornton Cricket Club @175 – Hybrid Wicket Installation (Thornton, Allerton, Queensbury)

Thornton Cricket Club aims to install a hybrid wicket combining grass and synthetic material to improve training and playing facilities for members. The enhanced wicket will support player development, increase reliability of the playing surface and promote physical activity and wellbeing across the club.

The project will benefit members of all ages and abilities, helping the club continue its longstanding role in providing accessible sports opportunities within the community.

Areas covered: Thornton, Allerton, Queensbury.

BD4 Artistes – On the Move (Holmewood & Surrounding Areas)

BD4 Artistes is a creative arts group supporting older adults, carers, single parents, neurodivergent residents and people experiencing loneliness or complex needs. The project builds on previous successful programmes and aims to expand by offering an additional weekly workshop and taking the group to different local spaces such as coffee shops and community venues.

The sessions provide inclusive creative activities including painting, clay modelling and crochet, helping participants build confidence, reduce isolation and explore new community spaces. Funding will allow the group to grow, reach new members and strengthen local networks across the estate.

Areas covered: Holmewood, Bierley, Tong Village, Tyersal, East Bowling, Wibsey.

Willow Tree Project – Emergency Food & Wellbeing Support (Wyke, Royds, Wibsey & Odsal)

The Willow Tree Project provides emergency food parcels, hygiene items and wellbeing support for residents experiencing financial hardship, food insecurity and social isolation. It combines crisis relief with preventative wellbeing sessions offering guidance, peer support and warm refreshments.

The project focuses on vulnerable households, older residents, lowincome families and Incommunities tenants. A designated support worker will help participants engage socially, access relevant organisations and receive practical assistance both at sessions and through optional home visits. The aim is to improve quality of life, reduce isolation and strengthen resilience.

Areas covered: Wyke, Royds, Wibsey & Odsal.

Sandale Dementia Group – Memory Friends Programme (Buttershaw, Wibsey, Woodside, Low Moor, Wyke, Bierley, Queensbury)

Sandale Dementia Group supports older people living with memory issues and their carers through weekly sessions offering lunch, social activities and access to organisations such as the Dementia Hub and Carers Resource. The project aims to enhance these sessions by funding a dedicated support worker who will help participants engage, stay safe and access practical help.

Activities include quizzes, bingo, crafts and gentle support with mobility, digital tasks and daily living. The project also offers optional home help visits to assist with small tasks and reduce isolation. It provides a safe, friendly environment where older people can connect, stay active and receive tailored support.

Areas covered: Buttershaw, Wibsey, Woodside, Low Moor, Wyke, Bierley, Queensbury.

Clayton Community Food Support & Seniors Wellbeing Programme (Clayton Estate)

This project delivers 50 weeks of essential food support, crisis assistance and social activities for residents of Clayton Estate, one of Bradford’s most deprived neighbourhoods. The weekly food bank provides fresh produce, toiletries, baby items and emergency parcels, supporting households facing financial hardship, sudden income loss or food insecurity.

Alongside this, the Seniors “Thrive” Meal offers a weekly nutritious meal and social session for older residents, helping reduce isolation, improve nutrition and provide access to wellbeing activities. The project is strengthened by partnerships with health, wellbeing and community safety organisations, ensuring residents receive holistic support and early intervention.

Area covered: Clayton Estate and neighbouring streets.

Young at Heart (Bradford Bulls) – Community Wellbeing Programme (Bradford District)

Young at Heart is a 12month wellbeing programme delivered by Bradford Bulls Community Foundation for adults aged 55 and over. The project provides weekly sessions designed to improve physical health, mental wellbeing and social connection. Activities include gentle exercise, fallsprevention work, reminiscence sessions and structured social interaction, helping older adults stay active, build friendships and maintain independence.

The programme is aimed at older residents who may be experiencing loneliness, reduced mobility, longterm health conditions or financial hardship. By offering a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment, Young at Heart supports participants to improve their wellbeing, feel more connected to their community and live healthier, happier lives.

Areas covered: Holme Wood, Allerton, Bradford South, Bradford West and surrounding communities.


£5000 Category -

Growing Allerton Together – Wildlife Boys & Community Garden (Allerton)

Growing Allerton Together is an intergenerational environmental project bringing together boys aged 10–12 from the Wildlife Boys group, local residents and professional artists. The aim is to transform the Weymouth Centre community garden into a biodiverse, creative and welcoming space through gardening, wildflower planting, muralmaking and public art.

The project supports young people who face barriers such as poverty, limited opportunities, neurodivergence and social isolation. By involving residents and young people in shaping the space, it promotes wellbeing, confidence, skills development and stronger community relationships.

Area covered: Allerton.

Seeds of Change – Young People’s Garden & Wellbeing Project (Wyke)

Seeds of Change is a youthled garden and wellbeing project for young people aged 16–19. It provides a safe, positive space where participants can learn practical skills in growing fruit, vegetables and herbs, while also exploring sustainability topics such as composting, biodiversity, reducing food waste and water conservation.

The project helps young people build confidence, develop friendships and strengthen their sense of belonging. Participants will shape how the garden looks, what is grown and how the space is used, giving them ownership and pride in improving their neighbourhood.

Area covered: Wyke.

Kreative Kidz Klub – Children’s Creative Club (Queensbury)

Kreative Kidz Klub is a creative, social club for children aged 5+ and their parents. The project offers handson arts and crafts activities that help children build practical, social and communication skills while enjoying a friendly, supportive environment. Parents are encouraged to stay, connect with others and spend quality time with their children.

The club aims to strengthen community relationships, boost children’s confidence and provide enjoyable shared experiences. Refreshments and simple meals such as pizza or hot dogs will be offered to create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere for families.

Area covered: Queensbury and surrounding areas.

COOKED – Community Meal Project (Holmewood, BD4)

COOKED is a 16week community meal programme providing warm, nutritious homecooked meals for Incommunities families with children living in Holmewood. Each weekly session supports around 40 people and offers meals such as shepherd’s pie, curry, spaghetti bolognese and vegetarian alternatives.

The project helps families facing financial pressures during winter, including rising heating costs and food insecurity. Alongside meals, families can access board games, crafts and books, creating a safe, welcoming space that reduces isolation and strengthens community connection.

Area covered: Tong Ward, specifically Holmewood (BD4).


£2000 Category -

Top Royd Allotments – French Drainage System (Thornton)

Top Royd Allotments are developing a French Drainage System to tackle severe winter flooding caused by natural springs. The flooding currently damages the community orchard, waterlogs allotment plots, erodes soil and makes key public footpaths unsafe and inaccessible. Volunteers have already completed early phases of the work, and funding would support the final installation with professional expertise and materials.

The project will protect fruit trees, improve biodiversity, and ensure safe yearround access to footpaths used by residents, schoolchildren, dog walkers and visitors accessing the Brontë Way and wider Thornton area.

Holmewood Toddler Play Sessions & Halloween Event (Holmewood)

This project aims to continue transforming Holmewood Square into a safe, welcoming space for families. It includes twiceweekly toddler play sessions offering healthy play and snacks, designed to bring families together and encourage positive use of the square. The group also plans to deliver a repeat of last year’s successful outdoor Halloween event, which attracted around 300 residents and was the only area with no police callouts.

Funding will support food, entertainment and resources to maintain these communityled activities. The project directly responds to residents’ ideas and helps reclaim a space previously associated with crime, antisocial behaviour and drug activity.

Bradford City Centre Homeless Support – Private Meeting Space (Bradford District)

This Bradfordbased service provides around 900 meals a week alongside wellbeing activities such as arts, baking, quizzes and bingo for adults experiencing homelessness and vulnerability. The team works closely with partner agencies to support people with issues including addiction, housing, benefits, employment and health.

The project seeks funding to create a private meeting space where guests can speak confidentially with staff or external support agencies. Sensitive conversations currently take place in communal areas, limiting privacy and engagement. A dedicated space would improve access to specialist help and support individuals in moving towards stability and independence.

Area covered: Bradford City Centre and surrounding Bradford areas.
